EaZyHold is a new grip aid designed to assist individuals with limited or no grip strength. Developed by three sisters with a family history of rheumatoid arthritis, the device helps users hold objects like utensils, pens, toothbrushes, toys, and musical instruments. Cerebral Palsy News Today recognized its ability to help those living with Cerebral Palsy in their article, “New Grip Aid May Ease Daily Living Activities for CP Patients.

Made from soft, food-grade silicone, EaZyHold is hygienic and easy to clean at high temperatures. This feature makes it suitable for use in hospitals and schools, where maintaining cleanliness is crucial. The silicone material also prevents bacterial growth, enhancing its safety for users.

Initially, the developers focused on creating a solution for adults. However, they soon recognized the unmet need among infants and children with cerebral palsy and other conditions that limit hand function. EaZyHold enables children to hold their first teether, bottle, spoon, or toy without requiring a caregiver’s assistance. This independence is vital for developmental milestones and learning.

For adults, EaZyHold offers the opportunity to perform daily tasks independently, contributing to a dignified and self-sufficient life. The grip aid has received endorsements from therapists working with both children and adults. Margaret Rice, a therapist, describes it as a “game changer,” emphasizing its role in helping children explore objects and develop cognitive understanding through play.

Occupational therapist Erika Reeves notes that traditional universal cuffs often fit poorly and are difficult to keep clean. In contrast, EaZyHold has enabled her patients to feed themselves, resume handwriting, and engage in activities like brushing a doll’s hair. She highlights the joy experienced by patients and caregivers when regaining these abilities.

EaZyHold’s patent was granted on Independence Day, symbolizing the independence it provides to its users. By allowing individuals with limited grip strength to perform daily activities without assistance, EaZyHold enhances quality of life and fosters autonomy.
